J and S Cocker Spaniels
We are a small breeder of American Cocker Spaniels.
We live on 20 acres in rural Ada, Oklahoma. We only raise AKC American Cocker Spaniels, no other breeds nor other registries. Our puppies are very socialized to outside noises, as well as home noises. We have been told by buyers that our puppies are 'fearless'. Our dogs are not caged. I am not saying that in a negative way. Ours just aren't. They are not kept outside but have the choice of going outside when they choose to. I think it is funny that we supply heating and air for our doggies and they want to go outside and play in the snow. They are born in our home in an extra bedroom dedicated to whelping and nursery. They are bathed several times and partially groomed with clippers. We have added sections of the Puppy Culture System into our program, as well as the Ultimate Badass Breeder's Guide. |
We are there when puppies are born, we see them take their first breath, learn to nurse, open their eyes, take their first steps, hear their first growl and first bark, wean them, vaccinate them, introduce them to the great outdoors, hold them when they cry or get scared.....we have given them all we can, to get to this point in their lives. Now it is up to you to take them on their next adventure. We are trusting you to show them the same love and patience that they have known.
We do not allow anyone to come in contact with our young puppies. So please do not ask to come to our home and play with the puppies. Like a new baby, the opportunity for young pups to pick up infectious diseases is increased with all new contacts. Their immune systems are building, so at this time, the moms and pups live in a whelping area which has controlled temperatures and are separate from all outside traffic. Most illnesses and diseases are innocently carried on people’s shoes and clothing. Entire litters of puppies can be wiped out within 48 hours by the puppy killer parvo virus. This disease could be picked up unknowingly by people in a school yard, a park, or on a sidewalk, and this is only one disease. We cannot risk exposing our dogs and your puppy to diseases that could destroy them. We take great care and much time caring for all of our dogs and their puppies. It is time and energy consuming. This is what we do best, so please let us do it. We understand your excitement, and we are happy that you are enthusiastic about getting your pup. But until you take your puppy home, we are responsible and the puppy’s health and safety is our priority. I guarantee you that in 8 weeks after the birth it will be well worth your wait. We have references on our Facebook Page. We can give you our Veterinarians contact information if you feel you need that. They know us well. If you feel you have to 'let the puppy pick us' then please don't apply for a puppy with us. We do NOT take our dogs to any dog parks. Please wait until your puppy has had at least three vaccines before you take them out to any park. Also be careful when you take them to the Vet. Do not place them on the floor. Remember, people take their dog to the Vet sometimes because they are sick. Puppies will have their tails banded, UNLESS you request otherwise. This must be requested before the puppy is three days old AND you must pay the full price for the puppy at that time. Puppies will have their dew claws removed. All of our adult Cockers are checked through Paw Print Genetics or Embark. They are clear for PRA, PRCD and SOD1 (Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Progressive Rod Cone Degeneration and Degenerative Myelopathy) We are now having our dogs X Rayed for hip and either OFA or PennHIP evaluated. Please research the breed before you decide to take home a Cocker Spaniel puppy. They are precious, but they do require a lot of grooming and need daily contact with their human. They can turn into 'crazy cockers' if they do not get the attention they need. They love to be around their humans. So, please be sure and do your homework about the American Cocker Spaniel, before you purchase. |
